About Me
I have 18 years’ experience of looking after dogs for friends and family, as well as having had our own wonderful dog Jet, a happy and loving black Labrador, for 15 years.
When we started our family in 2011, I went from working full-time to part-time, to fit around our new family; changing from office work to being a swimming teacher for babies and toddlers, then selling jewellery online and now running my own doggy business.
I love being my own boss! I am able to run the business with the support of my husband Kevin and we have 2 school-aged children, who love dogs. Kevin loves to come in from his garden office to see which dogs we have today and when the children come down for breakfast they can’t wait to say hi to the dogs.
Every year I invest in an MOD license so we have lots of different terrain to explore, as well as visiting local parks.
I regularly top up my knowledge with online courses to continue my professional development, and each time I get an enquiry I do my research to ensure I know how best to look after your breed.
Beginnings...
Our first baby was our beautiful black Labrador, Jet.
We got Jet on Christmas eve 2005 and had 15 wonderful years with him. When we said a very sad goodbye to Jet in August 2020 (yes, covid time) it was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do. When the kids started asking us about getting a dog in 2022 Kevin and I decided we just weren’t ready, but maybe I could look after dogs instead? So I started with a little bit of dog walking. Then my customers asked me about boarding and I looked into it… And that is how Claire’s Canine Walks and Boarding began.
I received a 4 star license with Rushmoor Council and started my day care and boarding business. We absolutely love looking after the dogs we have met. We get to have all the joy of having a dog, yet my son Bertie can still have the back gate wide open on a weekend and run in and out with his friends. Maybe one day we will be ready for another dog of our own, but for now we’re very content with our extended doggy family.
